Technically one of the Domanins of Summer, Olympia is a reflection in the NeverNever of a place that once was grounded in the mortal world, Mount Olympus and the mythic locations in Greek myth. When Rome conquered Greece and absorbed the deities into their own religion and beleif, the realm trancended into the NeverNever and the gods went with it, giving them greater power. However, with the rise of Christianity and the decline of Rome, the Greek Gods found themselves in great danger. When the Norse and Gallic tribes invaded Roman territories, the supernatural beings of Western Europe’s folklore, the Fey, moved in on the territory of the Gods. Oberon, a being of particular ambition, became consort to Titania and allied with her court. With her aid, Oberon, his trusted scout, Puck, and hordes of Summer and Wyld Fey engaged in a long campaign against Zeus and his Pantheon. Many of the lesser gods fell. Zeus lost and became a puppet ruler to Oberon, but the direct power of Olympia will not transfer to Oberon unless Zeus truely dies.
Because of Summer’s influence and the Elysian nature of Olymia, the realm is always green and growing. There is no decay anywhere. Many Greek mythic monsters wander the realm, always careful to avoid conflict with the occasional wandering Summer Fey. Many of these beasts are humaniod and sentient, and they are not bound by the rules of Fey— they can lie, they don’t have to make deals, and they are not vulnerable to iron. They must uphold Xenia, or the guest-friendship, at all costs, which may parallel the idea of making deals with a fey, but is not the same by a long shot. Xenia demands only that you offer the best accomodations and protections to your guest, and when you visit them, they must return the favor. The Gods are also bound by Xenia, and they able and willing to make deals. Xenia does not apply to intruders— in fact, intrusion is a violation of Xenia and the Greeks will punish it fiercely, which is why monsters have free reign to attack prey and wandering travelers. Roads and paths in Olympia are protected according to custom, and it is considered taboo to attack someone on a road or a path, but beasts do not recognize these taboos, and often humaniod monsters will try to lure travellers off paths to attack them.
